The City of Durham announced on March 6 that work continues on the NC-54 Waterline Replacement Project, with crews scheduled to install new water mains and services in several areas over the coming weeks.

The update is important for residents and businesses affected by construction activities, as it outlines upcoming work schedules and potential traffic impacts. The city has expressed appreciation for the community’s patience during the ongoing project.

According to the announcement, a crew will be installing a water main along Falconbridge Road on Friday, March 6. From March 2 to March 6, one crew is working along Falconbridge Road leading into the Falconbridge Shopping Center and will continue at this location through Friday. Another crew is continuing installation within an easement west of George King Road.

Looking ahead to March 9 through March 13, one crew will install water services along the service road north of NC-54 (Nelson Highway), while another will begin waterline installation near Stancell Drive east of Downing Creek Parkway. Temporary lane closures are planned for early April in the eastbound lane on Stancell Drive between Little John Road and Downing Creek Parkway.

Additional information about the project can be found at the city’s official website: https://www.durhamnc.gov/3977/NC-54-Waterline-Replacement-Project. Project contacts include Jeremy Farlow, Construction Team Manager for the City of Durham, and Jacob Coats, Project Manager at Moffat Pipe, Inc.

The city encourages residents to stay informed about construction updates and thanks them for their continued cooperation as work progresses.
