The City of Durham announced on March 20 that work will continue on the waterline installation along Broad Street south of Markham Avenue through early April.

The ongoing project is part of the city’s efforts to improve local infrastructure. Residents and commuters are advised that on-street parking along Broad Street will remain closed through early spring 2026 as construction progresses.

According to the city, contractors will be working on waterline installation from March 23 to March 27, and again from March 30 to April 3. The closure of on-street parking is necessary to allow for safe and efficient completion of the work.

Additional information about the project can be found at the city’s official website: https://www.durhamnc.gov/4910/Main-Street-and-Broad-Street-Waterline-R. Project contacts include Jeremy Farlow, Construction Team Manager for the City of Durham, and Brian Wilkerson, Project Manager at J.F. Wilkerson Contracting Company, Inc.

The city expressed appreciation for residents’ patience during this period and encourages those affected by the closures or construction activity to reach out with any questions or concerns.
