The City of Durham announced on March 27 that work will continue on the waterline installation along Broad Street south of Markham Avenue, with additional activities scheduled for early April. The city said that it appreciates residents’ patience as the project progresses.

This update is important for local residents and commuters who may be affected by ongoing construction and road closures in the area. According to the city’s announcement, more information about the project can be found at their official website.

Between March 30 and April 3, contractors will continue installing waterlines along Broad Street south of Markham Avenue. During the week of April 6-10, work will extend into the intersection of Broad Street and Markham Avenue. The city stated that flaggers will be present to help maintain traffic flow through this intersection while construction is underway.

On-street parking along Broad Street remains closed through early spring 2026 due to these works. Residents are encouraged to refer to official city resources for detailed parking closure information.

For further questions or concerns regarding this project, Jeremy Farlow, Construction Team Manager at City of Durham, and Brian Wilkerson, Project Manager at J.F. Wilkerson Contracting Company Inc., have been listed as points of contact.
