City of Durham Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.

It has been brought to our attention that some accounts have been showing up on social media claiming to be the Durham Police Department. 

Below are the official usernames used for our social media. If you see any other accounts, #ReportTheImposter to the appropriate platform or to DPDMedia@durhamnc.gov. 

As a reminder the Durham Police Department  will never contact you requesting payments of any kind, nor sensitive information such as bank account information or social security number. If this has happened to you, contact Durham Police at 919-560-4600 or dial 911.

Community members are invited to share feedback about police services and agency compliance with professional standards. Submissions will inform ongoing improvements but will only receive an acknowledgement.
