City of Durham issued the following announcement on Feb. 5.

A Public Hearing will be held by the Durham City Council to receive comments from residents on the potential use of federal HOME-American Rescue Plan funds awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing Urban and Development in the amount of $4,346,151.

A Public Hearing will be held by the Durham City Council to receive comments from the City of Durham residents on the potential use of federal HOME-American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) funds awarded to the City of Durham by the U.S. Department of Housing Urban and Development (HUD) in the amount of $4,346,151. 

HOME-ARP funds were included as part of COVID-19 pandemic response funding in the American Rescue Plan, which President Biden signed into law on March 11, 2021.   HOME-ARP funds are specifically intended to address the needs of qualified individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or in other vulnerable populations.  Funds may be used for: (1) Production or Preservation of Affordable Housing; (2) Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA); (3) Supportive Services, Homeless Prevention Services, and Housing Counseling; and (4) Purchase and Development of Non-Congregate Shelter. 

The Public Hearing is scheduled on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 7:00 P.M. during the Durham City Council Meeting.  Durham stakeholders interested in providing public comments on the potential use of the HOME-ARP funds should follow the City of Durham’s Public Comment Instructions.  Instructions can be found on the City of Durham website located at the following link: https://durhamnc.gov/3012/Public-Hearings.
