The City of Durham announced on March 27 that a planned eastbound lane closure on Stancell Drive between Little John Road and Downing Creek Parkway will begin during work hours starting April 6.

This update is part of the ongoing NC-54 Waterline Replacement Project. The city said it appreciates residents’ patience as crews continue to work in the area. Further information about the project can be found at the city’s website.

From March 30 to April 3, one crew will continue flushing and testing the new water main along the service road north of NC-54 (Nelson Highway), while another crew will connect newly installed water mains near the north end of Nelson Highway and north of Stancell Drive.

Between April 6 and April 10, installation work for a new water main will begin along Stancell Drive. During this period, only the eastbound lane will be closed during work hours, but access for residents will be maintained via the westbound lane. Temporary closures are expected to impact travel in this section throughout early April.

Residents seeking more details or with questions about construction can contact Jeremy Farlow, Construction Team Manager at City of Durham, or Jacob Coats, Project Manager at Moffat Pipe, Inc.
