Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has announced that its customers may access early prescription refills through October 26, 2025. The decision comes as the state prepares for potential disruptions caused by Tropical Storm Imelda.

This measure follows Governor Josh Stein’s declaration of a state of emergency across North Carolina. Early prescription refills are available to Blue Cross NC customers while the state of emergency remains in effect. However, the policy does not apply to controlled substances.

Customers with questions about their prescription drug coverage can contact the customer service number listed on their Blue Cross NC card. Members can also log in to blueconnectnc.com to send secure messages regarding their coverage. Updates will be provided through the company’s social media channels.

Blue Cross NC reminds members to seek care at the nearest hospital during an emergency.

The organization serves more than 5.3 million members and has operated in North Carolina since 1933 as a not-for-profit health plan.
